Watch the Street Cleaning advisory signs and move your car--complain to your ward office if the trucks are out but the signs not. The fines are hefty. This is also time for sewer cleanout work. And lots of street. alley and sidewalk work is underway--be careful. Also, check advisories for special events such as walks, runs, bikethons. Taste of Chicago means bus reroutings.

For reroutings at the UC Medical Center see the Univerity Projects Updates page.

Near President Obama's home. Even walking is restricted to the south side of E. Hyde Park Blvd. and the opposite side of the street on Greenwood and involves no stopping or picture-taking. Six or more security vehicles are present at any given time. There are concrete barriers on both sides of Greenwood Ave. north of E. Hyde Park Blvd. Even on E. Hyde Park parking nearby is not allowed-- and there is a major synagogue, KAM, on the corner. On Greenwood, only residents and registered guests can drive there. Campus buses cannot drop off passengers within a block. KAM congregants and guests must have their names on a registry and are asked to call 24 hours in advance.

New UC/CTA routes and routings. See UC Routes page and (with maps): http://www.yourcta.com/maps/bus/bus.htm

Pay and Display machines are in the City Lot, other lots, and along streets near the University. Get familiar and expect hefty fines if they are disregarded. Note, kinds of payment they take is limited and there are not enough

Metra and CTA are getting tough on pass users including enforcing single user rules & Metra is charging $2 for not pre-buying tickets.

Bikes are now allowed on most trains and buses. Metra weekday hours are 9:30-3 and after 7.

Metra's family discount fare is good all the time, not just weekends, summers through Labor Day. Now you can take your bike on all Metra trains between 9:30 and 3 and after 7. CTA has a similar train schedule and has bike carriers on most buses.
