New changes in the property tax law passed this year in Springfield will affect your property taxes. For example, the Senior Citizen’s Homestead Exemption will no longer be automatically renewed every year – instead you will need to apply for the exemption annually, including proof of ownership and eligibility. Changes are also being made to the 7% tax cap program.
